Rice Cereal

I wasn't planning on starting Mckinley on any type of "solid" foods (if you can call them that) till she was 6 months old. But then my neighbors gave us all this baby food for FREE. And it got me a little excited.

Yesterday we gave Mckinley her first taste of rice cereal. I guess I should have known by how fast this girl is growing up, but she was R.E.A.D.Y. She loved it!

I always secretly hoped I would have one of those babies who doesn't touch the food they are eating and is just super clean about it, but wow, Mckinley likes to grab my hand, the spoon, the mouthful of food, her bib, anything she can get her hands on. It was pretty messy. But totally fun!

How she is smart enough to open her mouth way before the spoon even touches it is beyond me. Then she would chomp down with her two little teeth and hold on to it in there.

Even during her first feeding, she thought she was ready to feed herself. Hmm...

This video is totally just for my parents, I don't expect anyone else to be excited about us feeding our baby for the first time.

Sitting and eating solids...what next? Just so you know...time goes by at triple speed from here on out so enjoy it three times as much! Next thing you know, she'll be crawling and you'll wonder what happened to your little newborn baby! Each stage is super duper fun though!

Isn't it funny how these little things become so exciting when it's your baby?

Oh My Stars! She is so cute! I could just eat her up. LOL my kids were all ready to eat way before they were supposed too. Truman was the best. He would gawk and follow your spoon while eating at 2 mo. SO we started him at 4 mo. in hopes that he would slow down on weight gain... uh yeah NOPE that didnt happen. LOL Awww so sweet.

Wow! That's a lot of food! Sweet!
I can't believe she sits up on her own. Cecily is a little "behind" I think and I indulge her in it. I don't want her to grow up. Maybe you'll find the same thing w/your next ones. With Samuel I wanted him to grow up, be ahead, etc etc see each new move, step but now that I see what happens when they grow up I'd rather take it a little slower.

Lucky you! It makes them feel so old when they start eating real food, right?? I'm glad that first feeding went well!!
