Brandon and I had something pretty exciting happen to us this weekend. We were able to shake hands with the prophet!!!
So on Saturday night we went to this dinner in Salt Lake with Brandon's parents. It's one of the fancy shmancy dinners we go to for Nu Skin. We've actually gone to this one like 3 years in a row I think. It's a dinner auction to raise money for an African city to help them out or something. I don't really know, I'll be honest, we just go for the food. :) The dinner was at the Little America hotel.
Anyway, so as soon as we were done eating, we took off. And on our way out, President Monson and his wife walked out of the elevator, like 10 feet away from us. I was like oh my gosh, that's President Monson. All four of us just sort of sat there and watched him start to walk away from us. Then all of a sudden Brandon just took off after him. I caught up to Brandon and we followed President Monson like half way down the hall until finally Brandon just reached up and put his hand on President Monson's shoulder to turn him around. Brandon said "Excuse me President Monson, can I shake your hand?" And so he shook Brandon's hand and then shook mine.
Then he complimented me on my dress. I think he said something like "Well that's quite a nice outfit you've got on." I borrowed the dress from Shellee and I'm so glad I did!!!
So then President Monson asked us why we were there and we explained to him about the dinner we went to. Then Brandon's parents came up and shook his hand also and then President Monson told us he had just come from the conference center where he was speaking at the general YW meeting. He told us his daughter spoke as well, told us she was in the YW General Presidency and that her name was Ann Dibb. As if we didn't know. :) It was so cute. Just like any proud parent.
And that was pretty much it. But man, what an amazing experience! And none of it would have happened if it weren't for Brandon running after him determined that he was going to shake the prophet's hand. Brandon did the exact same thing in the airport two years ago when we saw President Eyring. We were on the way back from our cruise and we saw him standing there so we went up and shook his hand. Brandon gets as excited as a little kid, and I love it.
I was sad I didn't bring my camera with me into the dinner so I made Brandon take a picture of me after we got home. We could have had our picture taken with President Monson. Darn!

Very cute dress - and what a cool experience!! Now why was he coming out of the Little America hotel if he was just coming from the Conference Center? Must be some underground tunnels that lead there.
