The trip home was much better than the trip there, as always. It's nice to drive when the kids are all exhausted. They sleep more and complain less. :)
We only had one stop in Vegas on the way home for lunch and gas, and then drove straight home from there. Jackson never needed to go to the bathroom! He did so good! No accidents on the trip at all.
While we were on our trip, Mckinley missed her back to school night for 7th grade. I heard later that it was super chaotic so we didn't miss out on much. Blair told me the next day that the school was open so Mckinley and I headed over and she practiced opening her locker a million times (she had already gone on a 7th grade tour day that Brother Smith organizes every year) and walked around to see where her classes were.
Mckinley got to go to 7th grade day the day before everyone else started school. Getting on the bus was a bit of a fiasco, because one of the buses didn't come, but we got it figured out and she had a great day.
I love that this picture at the bus stop she chose that day is right in front of our old house!
While Mckinley was gone, the little kids begged me (literally) to take them to Coconut Cove. I figured it was a good time to go since Mckinley is too old for that place anyway.
Jackson loved the slide by the end. The kids all had a blast and I sat and read a book. It was a definite win win.
Ava started soccer. Brandon is her coach. Watching 5 year olds play soccer is not my favorite thing. She loves it because of the snacks. Maybe I need to buy better snacks for my kids, ha ha.
Tyler and Kallie got to have their first day of school on Wednesday, August 17th. They were so excited to have Mrs. Marker as their teacher.
They both got split apart from their very best friends, but both still have several good friends in their class.
While the kids were at school I took Ava and Jackson to Neilsen's Grove Park where we almost died of heat, ha ha.
Look at these cute post cards the twins got in the mail from their teacher. Mrs. Marker was Miss Macy last year, she is Kennedy Macy's older sister. Mckinley and Kennedy used to be good friends up until 6th grade when they got put in different classes and completely stopped talking to each other. I was hoping they would have some classes together in Junior High but so far they don't have a single one together.
Love our fall good weather days where we can play play play on our neighbors playgrounds.
We had a family dinner because Todd was here from Germany bringing Ian to college. The kids had a blast in Bryant's backyard.
One of Jackson's many many sleeping pictures.
Ava had to wait another week to start school so while we were waiting we got her all about me poster ready.
Finally it was back to school night for Ava. She is so lucky to be in the same class with Harper and a bunch of kids from our ward and of course to have our beloved Mrs. Brown as her teacher.
She was so excited that she would be able to show her teacher and all her friends on the first day of school that she had lost a tooth! Her lisp from it is so adorable, and now a few weeks later the new one is starting to grow in and I'm a little sad because I just love that gap so much!
She has been waiting her turn but when the morning came, she shed some tears.
Picked her up at the end of the day though and she said she had a fabulous first day!
The next morning we walked with her to school and now every day we just send these three off on their own in the mornings. School is such a beautiful thing!!
Another week later Jackson got his turn and had his first day of joy school.
I got to have the boys at my house for the first day and we had so much fun learning about the letter A. I love joy school so much and these boys are all so sweet and kind. I just love them!
