San Diego Day 1

The first full day of our trip was Sunday. We planned on a beach day. Brandon was so excited to go eat at Ruby's Diner out on the pier but we searched and discovered it was shut down. We still wanted to take our kids to a pier though so we headed to Oceanside Beach and walked out to the end of the pier. I love being out there looking down at the water, especially seeing birds dive down into the water.

There were tons of fisherman all along the pier and this one guy caught a baby stingray. He let me take a picture of it before he threw it back in.

Brandon got some cool pics of the pier with his drone.

The kids all loved the beach!

We had so much fun jumping over the waves and swimming. I was so impressed that Brandon actually got out there. He is so scared of sharks that I didn't think he would get in. But he said as long as there were surfers out there further than us, they would be the first target for the sharks so he felt okay about it, ha ha.

There were a lot of rocks on the beach that you had to walk over before you got out past them to the smooth sand. That was kind of a pain, but we had no idea what we were doing or where to go, so we were happy with what we had.

Realized we were parked right next to the Top Gun House so we had to take a picture!

Back to the hotel to swim at the pool there.

Later that evening we headed out to go find another beach. I had been talking to a few friends who had gone on this trip recently and were giving me tips about where to go. I heard that if we went to La Jolla beach we might be able to see some seals, so we headed that way. As we were driving, we saw the San Diego Temple so of course had to stop to check it out.

We walked out on this little pier thing, watching a couple seals and then I looked down the coast quite a ways and told Brandon I was pretty sure there were some seals down there. So we walked a ways and ended up being able to sit and just watch a ton of seals swimming in the waves and moving on the beach and rocks. It was so cool! There were also a bunch of pelicans perched on this cliff. I love pelicans so much!

Gorgeous sunset walking back to our car. It was a great first day!
